Making a Sustainable Splash in Las Vegas

As companies become more mindful of how they impact the environment, they’re seeking out like-minded partners who are taking a more planet-friendly approach to event planning. That’s what one client was looking for when they tasked our team with organizing a five-day conference in the entertainment capital of the world: Las Vegas, Nevada. The ultimate goal? Producing zero landfill contributions and leaving the city better than they found it.

Our team began executing this mission from the very first moments of the experience with eco-friendly VIP transportation; green vehicles greeted guests upon arrival and whisked them away to their destination. To minimize waste throughout the entire program, DCi sourced design elements that could be recycled, composted, or donated to local charities. Our sustainable choices also included regional staffing solutions; by hiring locally, DCi was able to reduce any potential negative impacts of travel.

When it came to design, DCi pulled out all the stops — without sacrificing an ounce of style. A honeycomb-themed welcome party kicked off the festivities, complete with hexagonal decor, photo booths, and pendant lights in the shape of a beehive. To create interactive and memorable experiences for participants, our team incorporated several tech activations throughout the event. For a field team dinner, DCi had even more fun activities in store: a ping-pong tournament and arcade games.

The centerpiece of the multi-day program was the expo, where our team brought the outdoors in with nature-inspired backdrops of lush foliage and Nevada’s jagged pink mountains. Living plants and striking, moss-covered chandeliers added visual interest and a touch of organic beauty to the space. Seating areas were defined by soothing, earthy tones, and outfitted with furniture that our team later donated to charity. A final outdoor bash at Mandalay Beach bookended the program, leaving guests ooh-ing and ahh-ing over a fireworks show at the end of the night.
